Required tasks are used to show whether a record is ready for the next workflow step.

What Required Means

Required means the task must be completed before the workflow should be considered ready to advance.

It does not simply mean important.

Required Progress

Workflow Status sections calculate progress from persisted tasks.

Required progress counts:

• Required tasks
• Required tasks completed
• Required tasks still blocking progress

Blocking Tasks

A blocking task is a required task that is not completed.

Blocking tasks may have statuses such as:

• Open
• In Progress
• Blocked
• Cancelled

Cancelled required tasks can still block progression because a separate override process is not yet implemented.

The Next Action is usually the first incomplete required task, ordered by:
