Work items are the scope lines inside a work plan. Each work item describes a piece of work, its estimate, bid or awarded amount, contractor assignment, funding/project link, and special requirements.

What A Work Item Represents

A work item can represent:

• A repair or replacement item
• A construction task
• A division-specific scope item
• An instructional note that prints with the scope but does not carry a cost
• A line that later receives contractor bids or payments

Work Description Fields

Use the Work Description section to define what the contractor and staff need to understand.

Important fields include:

• Spec Template: The standard template used as the starting point, if any.
• Description: The short work item title. This should be clear enough to scan in lists and reports.
• Spec Division Name: The construction division or category.
• Spec Grouping: A grouping value used to organize related scope items.
• Instructional Spec: Use this when the line is an instruction or note rather than a priced item.
• Work Item Detail: The detailed scope language, installation requirements, materials, or instructions.
